Scrappy Squares Poncho was a pattern I came up with during the COVID-19 lockdown as a way to create something only using the supplies I had on hand.
This pattern is done using two different style squares. A traditional open granny square and a closed square. I used these two different styles because I tend to get too warm when I wear sweater-like garments. I wanted it to be more open and airy, so I put the granny square in there. I fell in love with the way it looked.
After I got it all put together I couldn't decide what kind of edging I should put on there. I ended up going with a simple crab stitch around the collar and a lovely lace edge on the bottom. I'm not a big fan of tassels or fringe, but I am a sucker for bit of lace.
Thorough instructions are included for each square style, how to achieve a similar look, and how to lay out your squares and assemble the poncho. I sincerely hope you enjoy busting through your stash and creating a lovely Fall piece. Or use a lighter yarn and make a soft, flowing Summer cover. No matter how you do it, make sure you have fun! :)
